Skill Development

"During the game children are applying, not developing, their skill."

Whether you are new to soccer or have been playing at school or in a recreational program for a few years, WSA will help you develop or improve your game. This program is designed for players between ages 6-12 and focuses on technical skills - ball control, shielding, dribbling, passing, and shooting - and small sided tactical games.

For Summer programs, players are often divided into four or more age groups. In Fall/Winter programs, depending on the size of the gym and the group, players may train together. Sessions include a warm up, exercises with and without the ball, and small sided games.

This program helps prepare young recreational players for competitive soccer by building their confidence with the ball and improving their understanding of the tactical decisions of the game - all in a friendly, fun and safe environment.

SUMMER 2025

This program is for boys (U) 6 to 12. The program is nine (9) weeks/sessions, and each session is between 60 - 90 minutes. Sessions begin the week of June 16th. Please contact academy director Zijo Nistovic (zijo.nistovic@gmail.com) for more information.

What to wear
Running shoes (preferably cleats for outdoor), socks and shin pads. Players will receive an academy T-shirt.

Weather policy

Soccer is an all-weather game – rain or shine. However, sessions may be stopped or cancelled due to heavy rain, thunder or lightning. That decision will be made by the academy director or coaching staff just prior to or during the session. Only in rare circumstances will a notice be sent to parents well before the session. Playing conditions will be assessed at the field. Please do not call about possible weather cancellations. To make up for a lost session, time may be added to the remaining sessions but unfortunately we will not be able to add a make-up session.
